Lab Screening
Your veterinarian will walk you through any necessary screening lab work for your pet after the physical examination. Your pet’s age, breed, lifestyle, and physical exam results will determine which tests are recommended.
Your veterinarian will examine your pet’s lifestyle, diet, medication (if any), and vaccines (if due) after assessing the physical and laboratory findings. Wellness examinations are also a good time to talk about any behavioural issues your pet is having, as these can often be linked to an undiagnosed illness. If your pet has no health issues, your veterinarian will walk you through the best ways to accommodate and modify your pet’s behavioural concerns.
How Often Should Wellness Exams Be Performed?
The frequency of wellness exams your pet needs is determined by their age, breed, lifestyle, nutrition, and medical history. Younger pets (those under the age of 7) usually require annual wellness exams. Older pets (those above the age of 7) are required to receive semi-annual wellness exams (twice a year). Exams may be required more frequently for pets with potentially serious health conditions.
